title: AI visibility
description: Set up an AI-visibility target and understand mentions, share of voice, queries, and cited sources.
---

AI visibility helps you inspect whether available AI-search data mentions your brand, competitors, or public sources.

> **Conditional:** AI visibility can depend on workspace access, plan, provider availability, a public storefront, and sufficient data. Completing setup does not create mentions or improve visibility by itself.

## Entry path

Open a store project → **SEO** → **AI Visibility** → **Dashboard**.

## Before you start

- Publish the storefront and complete the main SEO eligibility step.
- Verify that Runner detects the public storefront domain you intend to track; setup does not provide a separate editable brand field.
- Add only relevant competitors so share-of-voice comparisons remain useful.
- Connect Google Search Console only if the optional entry is available and you want to authorize it.

## Controls and click results

| Control | What happens after you select it |
| --- | --- |
| Detected storefront | Shows the public store that setup will use as its starting target. |
| Competitor fields in setup | Adds comparison brands to the setup choices; entering a name does not run a lookup. |
| Starter prompt preview | Shows example prompt ideas for setup. Previewing them does not run or save prompt results. |
| Google Search Console → **Connect** | Opens **Apps** for the optional Google Search Console connection. |
| **Continue** | Advances to the next setup step when the current input is valid. |
| **Skip for now** | Closes setup without starting Brand Lookup or creating a snapshot. |
| **Look up brand** | Opens the three-step AI Visibility setup for the detected storefront. |
| **Finish setup** | Submits the detected storefront and competitor choices, closes setup, and starts Brand Lookup. Results remain pending until the lookup completes. |
| **Ask Runner to fix this** | Opens a new Runner conversation with the saved AI-visibility evidence and its recommended improvement. It does not edit or publish the store by itself. |
| **See citation gaps** | Opens an evidence-grounded Runner conversation focused on missing citation opportunities; review its suggestions before making changes. |

## Complete setup

1. Open **SEO**, then select **AI Visibility** and **Dashboard**.
2. Select **Look up brand** to open setup.
3. Confirm the detected public storefront is the store you intend to review.
4. Add a small set of relevant competitors, then select **Continue**.
5. Review the starter prompt preview without treating it as a completed test, then continue.
6. Connect Search Console only if the option is useful and you are authorized to connect the account.
7. Select **Finish setup** to submit and start Brand Lookup.
8. Wait for a completed state; do not start a duplicate lookup while it is pending.
9. Read mentions, estimated AI-search volume, share of voice, queries, and cited sources together.

## Read the dashboard

- **Mentions** counts available responses or records that reference the tracked brand.
- **Share of voice** compares tracked brands within the available dataset; it is not the entire internet.
- **Queries** show questions associated with the collected results.
- **Cited sources** show pages referenced in available answers and can include sites you do not control.

## Troubleshooting

| State | Meaning and next step |
| --- | --- |
| Pending | The lookup was accepted but is not finished. Wait before starting it again. |
| Completed with no mentions | The result contains no brand mentions. Review the queries and sources rather than assuming setup failed. |
| Failed | Open the visible error, confirm the public target, and retry later. |
| Provider unavailable or access missing | The requested model or data source cannot be used now. Use completed sections and try again later. |
| Not enough data | The provider could not produce a reliable view for the target. Keep the site public and revisit after it has more discoverable content. |
