## Avatar upload and generation

**Messages you may see**

- `Image must be 5 MB or smaller.`
- `We couldn't create that avatar. Your current one is unchanged. Try again or tweak the description.`
- `Choose an image file (PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP).`
- `You've used all 3 avatar generations for today. Try again tomorrow.`
- `Your new avatar didn't save. The old one stays. Try again.`
- `The image didn't upload. Nothing changed. Try again.`
- `Enter a description to generate an avatar.`
- `Keep your description to {max} characters or fewer.`

Avatar validation, upload, generation, and saving are separate steps. Generating an image does not prove that it was saved as your avatar.

1. For an upload, choose a PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP image no larger than 5 MB.
2. For generation, enter a description. If the daily quota is exhausted, wait until tomorrow or upload your own image.
3. For a transient generation failure, retry or revise the description. For a save failure, retry saving the selected avatar.

**Check:** Reopen your profile and confirm the intended avatar is displayed.
