Shopify migration and import. Exact Runner messages, recovery steps, and checks for the completed result.

Use the Shopify store address and app credentials for the same source store. Correct missing read access by updating access, releasing the app version, and reinstalling as directed. When Shopify won’t share customer records, open the app’s Distribution card in the Dev Dashboard and choose Custom distribution, then check again without reinstalling; only a store owner or administrator can change or start the migration. Enter credentials only in the connection form.

For CSV errors, use a recognizable Shopify export, within the displayed upload limit, with actual rows. Split oversized row sets into multiple files. Wait for store preparation or retry store setup before importing. Resume an unfinished import rather than starting another. When an import needs attention, successful records remain; review missing/invalid/conflicting items before retrying them. A skipped inventory level is listed by product, variant and location, and that stock isn’t set in Runner until you add the missing product or location to the import and import again.

A failed progress refresh does not mean the import stopped. Reload status and check imported data. Success means the migration summary and target records agree; use the affected stage/item and migration ID to escalate.

Messages covered:

  • Could not copy automatically. Select the scopes and copy them manually.
  • Enter a valid store-name.myshopify.com address.
  • Required user access
  • If the app's Overview shows a Distribution card, open it and choose Custom distribution. Without it, Shopify won't share customer records with the app. Apps created in the store's own organization have no Distribution card and skip this.
  • Shopify won't share customer records with this app yet. Choose Custom distribution for the app in the Dev Dashboard, then try again.
  • On the app Overview, use Install app in the Installs card. Choose the source store, review the read-only permissions, then press Install. Shopify’s unreviewed-app warning is expected for an app you created yourself. If the app was already installed before you added the required access, install it again and approve the updated permissions.
