The model runs in your browser
A background removal model loads inside this browser tab and separates the subject from the background on your own device. It uses your graphics card through WebGPU when the browser supports it and falls back to the CPU when it does not.

Save the transparent PNG
Drag the slider to compare the original with the result, then download the PNG or copy it to your clipboard. The transparent background is ready for product listings, thumbnails, and designs.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The image is decoded and processed in your browser. It is never sent to Runner AI or any third party, and it is cleared from memory when you start a new image or leave the page.
Why does the first run take longer?
On first use, the browser downloads the model files, roughly 100–200 MB, from Hugging Face and caches them locally. Later runs reuse that cache and skip the download.
Which formats and sizes are supported?
You can add a PNG, JPG, or WebP image up to 40 MB. The result is always a PNG with a transparent background at the same resolution as the original image.
Is the background remover free?
Yes. There is no account, sign-in, or usage limit. Because the tool runs on your device, the only requirement is a modern browser with enough memory for the image.
