Metrics and filters
Set a reporting period and comparison, narrow a report, and check which data your metrics describe.
Use the same period and filters to make a meaningful comparison between traffic, orders, and sales.
Entry path
Open a store project → Measure → Analytics → report controls.
English callouts highlight the controls. Select the image to enlarge it.
Choose Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, or Last 30 days in the single-page Analytics date menu.
Before you start
- Decide which question the period should answer: current activity, a recent week, or a broader trend.
- A partial current day is not directly comparable with a complete past day.
- Filter controls vary by report and by the Analytics layout available to your workspace.
Controls and click results
First check your visible layout. The single-page dashboard offers Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, and Last 30 days. If your workspace instead shows the Storefront analytics workbench, use the controls below:
| Control | Result |
|---|---|
| Today / Yesterday | Selects the current or previous day. |
| 7d / 30d | Selects a recent weekly or monthly window. |
| Custom dates | Lets you choose the report’s start and end dates. |
| Compare, when shown | Adds or removes a comparison period. |
| Segment, when shown | Narrows the report to the selected audience. |
| Additional filters | Restricts matching events or records. Use only the conditions needed for your question and respect the limit shown by the form. |
If your workspace shows the earlier dashboard, its selector offers Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, and Last 30 days instead.
Compare one period
- Open the report and choose Last 7 days or Last 30 days in the single-page dashboard. In the workbench, choose 7d, 30d, or custom dates.
- Wait for the report to refresh and confirm the date label matches your choice.
- Enable Compare if available and check which period it uses.
- Apply one segment or filter only when the question concerns that audience or event.
- Confirm the selected condition remains visible before interpreting the figures.
- Remove the condition and turn comparison off to return to the broader view.
Checkpoint: You can state which dates and conditions produced the displayed figures. Clearing filters should restore the broader query, even if both queries are empty.
Read metrics with their counts
- Check recorded sessions and purchases before interpreting conversion percentages.
- Read GMV and net sales separately: they describe different sales measures.
- A sharp percentage change with a small sample needs more evidence.
- Match period lengths, filters, and metric definitions before comparing another service.
Troubleshooting
| State | Next step |
|---|---|
| New period is still empty | Clear filters and confirm the store had relevant activity in that period. |
| A filter is unavailable | Use the controls supported by that report; do not assume every view has the same fields. |
| Filter limit reached | Remove an unnecessary condition before adding another. |
| Values change unexpectedly | Recheck custom dates, active segment, comparison period, and unusual orders or refunds. |
| Report fails to refresh | Reload once and keep the selected period and visible error for support. |
