Add store plugins
Install ready-made store features, such as Wishlist and Klaviyo, from Apps, and manage them in Store Operations.
Store plugins add ready-made features to your store. Wishlist lets shoppers save products to come back to. Klaviyo sends your shoppers and orders to your Klaviyo account for email and SMS marketing. Installing a plugin adds the feature to your store’s backend. Add to storefront then asks Runner to put it into your store’s design, and Manage opens the plugin’s own pages in Store Operations → Plugins.
Before you start
Entry path: Project → Apps → Store plugins
- The section lists the plugins Runner offers. A card that shows Backend upgrade required needs a newer store backend before it can install.
- Installing restarts your store’s backend, so the store is briefly unavailable. Plugin migrations can take longer for larger stores.
- One backend change runs at a time. While one installs or is removed, the other cards show Blocked by another backend change.
- Shoppers see a plugin’s feature only after Runner adds it to your storefront and you publish the store.
Watch: install Wishlist and see what shoppers save
The recording, with narration and captions, installs Wishlist from Store plugins, selects Add to storefront, and publishes the store after Runner reports what it added. A shopper then creates an account, saves two prints, and opens the Wishlist page. Then Manage opens Wishlist in Store Operations → Plugins, where Wishlists shows the prints that shoppers save most and Product widgets shows how many wishlists include one print. Installing took about 8 minutes for this store and Runner’s storefront work about 7; both depend on your store. The recording does not connect payments or take an order.
Store plugin controls
| Control or state | Why it is useful | What happens next |
|---|---|---|
| Install | Adds the plugin to your store’s backend. | Runner asks you to confirm, because the store restarts briefly. |
| Continue | Confirms the install or removal. | The card shows Installing or Removing until the change finishes. |
| Installing or Removing | Shows that the backend change is running. | Wait. The card changes when Runner finishes; you can leave the page. |
| Installed | Confirms the plugin runs in your store’s backend. | Plugins with a storefront part show Add to storefront. |
| Add to storefront | Puts the plugin’s feature into your store’s design. | Runner opens a chat with the request and makes the change in your storefront. |
| Manage | Opens the plugin’s own pages. | Runner opens the plugin’s tab in Store Operations → Plugins. |
| Remove | Takes the plugin out of your store’s backend. | Runner asks you to confirm, then shows Removing. |
| Backend upgrade required | Shows that your store’s backend is too old for this plugin. | The plugin cannot install until the store backend is upgraded. |
| Blocked by another backend change | Shows that another plugin change is running. | Try again after that change finishes. |
| Last change failed | Shows that the last install or removal did not finish. | Read the message on the card, then try again or contact support. |
Add Wishlist to your store
- Open Project → Apps and find Store plugins.
- On Wishlist, select Install, then Continue.
- Wait until the card shows Installed and Add to storefront. This takes a few minutes.
- Select Add to storefront. Runner opens a chat that asks it to add the plugin, then adds save buttons to product cards and product pages, a Wishlist page, and a Wishlist count in the header.
- When Runner finishes, check the preview: each product shows a heart.
- Select Publish and confirm, so shoppers get Wishlist on your live store.
What shoppers see
- A heart on every product card and product page. Selecting it saves the product; selecting it again removes it.
- A heart in the header with the number of saved products. It opens the Wishlist page, which lists every saved product.
- Guest saving is off by default, so shoppers sign in to save. A shopper who is not signed in sees Sign in to save items to your wishlist. and goes to the account page; after signing in, their wishlist stays with their account on every device.
- To let shoppers save without an account, open Store Operations → Plugins → Wishlist, select Wishlists, then Settings, and turn on Allow guest wishlists.
See what shoppers save
Entry path: Store Operations → Plugins → Wishlist, or Manage on the Wishlist card in Apps → Store plugins
- Wishlists shows wishlist activity for the period you choose, with the products that shoppers save most. Its Settings tab holds Allow guest wishlists.
- Product widgets shows how many wishlists include a product. Choose the product, and the Wishlist panel shows its count.
Connect Klaviyo
Klaviyo gets what shoppers do on your published store and the orders they place. Your Klaviyo flows and campaigns can then follow up by email or SMS. Klaviyo uses your own Klaviyo account.
Klaviyo is not on in every workspace yet. If Store plugins does not list Klaviyo, it is not available to you yet.
Watch: connect Klaviyo and see your shoppers in Klaviyo
The recording, with narration and captions, installs Klaviyo from Store plugins and selects Manage to open its tab in Store Operations → Plugins. A shopper then creates an account, adds a print to the cart, and starts checkout. In Klaviyo, the shopper’s profile shows those steps, the order with its products, and the shipment’s carrier and tracking number. Klaviyo’s approval page, the payment, and the shipment are not on camera.
- Open Project → Apps and find Klaviyo under Store plugins.
- Select Install. Klaviyo opens and asks you to sign in and to give Runner access to your account.
- Approve the access. Runner takes you back to Apps, and the card shows Connected to and your Klaviyo account name.
- Select Manage to open Klaviyo in Store Operations → Plugins. The tab shows the same account and the same Remove control as the card.
What Klaviyo receives
Events usually appear on the shopper’s Klaviyo profile within a few minutes.
- From your published storefront: a profile with the shopper’s name and email when they create an account or sign in, then Viewed Product, Added to Cart, and Started Checkout.
- From your store’s orders: Placed Order, with one Ordered Product event for each product, then Fulfilled Order with the carrier and tracking number when the order ships. Refunded Order and Cancelled Order follow refunds and cancellations.
Orders that you place in Runner’s preview do not go to Klaviyo. Use your published store.
Remove Klaviyo
- Select Remove on the Klaviyo card or in its tab in Store Operations → Plugins.
- Select Remove again to confirm. Your store stops sending orders and customers to this Klaviyo account, and Runner loses access to it. Klaviyo keeps the profiles and events that it already has.
If a store plugin does not work
- The card shows Backend upgrade required. Your store backend is older than the plugin needs. Contact support to upgrade it.
- Installing does not finish. Leave it running and check the card later. If it shows Last change failed, read the message and select Install again once.
- No hearts on the live store. Confirm that Runner finished the Add to storefront chat, then publish the store again.
- Shoppers are sent to the account page. Guest saving is off, so shoppers sign in to save. Turn on Allow guest wishlists in Store Operations → Plugins → Wishlist to change that.
- The Klaviyo card shows Klaviyo access ended. Runner can no longer reach your Klaviyo account, for example because access was removed in Klaviyo. Select Reconnect and approve Runner again.
- A test shopper does not appear in Klaviyo. Klaviyo ignores some test addresses, such as addresses at example.com. Use an email address that can receive mail, and use your published store.
