Plugins

Manage the plugins your store uses, such as gift cards and Wishlist, from their own tabs in Store Operations.

Use Plugins to work in each store plugin’s own pages from a tab in Store Operations, next to your orders and products, without signing in to a separate admin.

Why and when to use Plugins

Open Plugins when you need a plugin’s own pages: issue a gift card, check what a customer can spend with store credit, or see which products shoppers save to their wishlists. Each plugin that has pages gets its own tab.

Availability and prerequisites

If setup cards appear instead of the admin menu, complete store setup first, then select Open Store Operations.

  • Plugins appears only when your store’s backend supports plugin pages. A store on an older backend does not show it.
  • A plugin gets a tab only when it has pages to manage:
    • Gift cards appears after you turn on Offer gift cards and store credit in Store Operations → Payments.
    • Wishlist appears after you install it from Apps → Store plugins.
    • Plugins that Runner manages itself, such as Klaviyo, show the same controls in their tab as on their card in Apps → Store plugins.
  • Installing a plugin takes a few minutes. Your store is briefly unavailable while its backend restarts, and the plugin’s tab appears once its card reads Installed.

Open Plugins

Entry path: Workspace → choose a store → Store Operations → Plugins

You can also open a plugin’s tab from its Manage button in Apps → Store plugins, or from Manage gift cards and Manage store credit in Store Operations → Payments.

Watch: install a plugin and manage it in Store Operations

The recording installs Wishlist from Apps → Store plugins and, once its card reads Installed, selects Manage to open its tab under Plugins. It shows the prints shoppers save most in Wishlists, follows a product link to Products, and shows the Product widgets count for one print. It does not connect payments or change any plugin settings.

Manage a plugin

  1. Open Store Operations → Plugins.
  2. Select the plugin’s tab.
  3. Select the page you need from the buttons under the tabs.
  4. Work in the plugin’s page. Its forms and detail pages open inside the tab.
  5. When the plugin links to an order, a customer, a product, or a discount, select the link to open Runner’s section for it.

Example: issue a gift card

In Gift cards, select Gift Cards, then Create. Enter a Value, add a Note if you want one, and select Create. The new gift card opens with its code and value.

Troubleshooting

  • Plugins is missing from Store Operations. Your store’s backend does not support plugin pages yet. The section appears after your store backend is updated.
  • A plugin you installed has no tab. The plugin has no pages to manage, or its install is still finishing. Check its card in Apps → Store plugins.
  • A tab shows an error right after an install. The install restarts your store backend for about a minute. Wait, then select Try again.
