Avatar upload and generation

Messages you may see

  • Image must be 5 MB or smaller.
  • We couldn't create that avatar. Your current one is unchanged. Try again or tweak the description.
  • Choose an image file (PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP).
  • You've used all 3 avatar generations for today. Try again tomorrow.
  • Your new avatar didn't save. The old one stays. Try again.
  • The image didn't upload. Nothing changed. Try again.
  • Enter a description to generate an avatar.
  • Keep your description to {max} characters or fewer.

Avatar validation, upload, generation, and saving are separate steps. Generating an image does not prove that it was saved as your avatar.

  1. For an upload, choose a PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP image no larger than 5 MB.
  2. For generation, enter a description. If the daily quota is exhausted, wait until tomorrow or upload your own image.
  3. For a transient generation failure, retry or revise the description. For a save failure, retry saving the selected avatar.

Check: Reopen your profile and confirm the intended avatar is displayed.
